We discuss the drug war, the ongoing opioid crisis, health issues and anything affecting the recovery community with an interesting and fun panel of hosts and guests.
About the Hosts
Jake Bishop is a native of the Rochester area and has had a long history helping the community through volunteering and outreach programs. Campaigning for congressional and mayoral candidates sparked his passion for inspiring others and speaking publicly. Professionally, Jake has worked in high end menswear, gaining a reputation as a golden tongued salesman and later working for several years as the protege of the head of the Iron Workers Union in St. Louis’ Little Italy. Sadly Jake’s affinity for crime led to an arrest for distribution/possession with intent to distribute over 100 lbs of marijuana. After a period of incarceration Jake has worked tirelessly to help the community, and considers himself a reformed felon, as well as an advocate for recovery. In 2019 he formed Rising Up Recovery to inform the public about the opioid crisis and help those suffering from addiction by providing awareness and being active in the community with the resources to help.
Jake lives happily in Brighton with his German Shepherd Ally and enjoys cooking, weightlifting at the JCC and spending time with his lovely girlfriend Dawn and her two daughters. His favorite quote “If you treat me good I will treat you better”
Daniel Hefner is a radio personality who has a passion for spreading awareness about the opioid epidemic in Rochester, NY, and helping people who may be struggling with addiction.
He graduated from SUNY Brockport with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. He also got a Hospitality degree from MCC. As someone who had a promising future, he threw it all away due to drugs and addiction. For close to 7 years he struggled with finding recovery and staying out of the justice system. He has finally figured it all out and has a burning desire to make a difference. Using his personal experiences and blunt attitude, he hopes prevent others from going down this same path.
